Death Has Too Many Willing Servants

Readers of my book will recall how I was nearly frightened to death the time I came face-to-face with Death incarnate two years ago. Naturally, as soon as White Buffalo heard about this he ran after him with his Holy Sword of Christ's Blood in an attempt to imprison Death himself within the sword's hilt. We (Roy and I) went after him, but not because it's impossible to catch Death. For he is far too wiley for that. We were concerned because our friend was running around like a maniac with a sword through neighorhoods and people's yards. The police caught up with him before we did. After two weeks of playing nice in mental hold, he was released on his own recognizance.

Capturing Death wouldn't lead to immortality for all. Death, according to White Buffalo, kidnaps some while on their way to Heaven after their passing. Upon your dying, he explained, you will see the bright light, the portal to a perfectly beautiful world, in front of you some distance away. You will be compelled to draw nearer to it, although the summons to Heaven can be fought against. I personally don't know why anybody would do that; perhaps atheists would refuse the call. And don't get me wrong; all humans are called to Heaven. White Buffalo explained that humans weren't born for Death's embrace. Eternal life is our birthright. Original Sin, the source of Death, was conquered by the Crucifixion of Christ. But Death himself was not conquered. He still happily accommodates those who choose eternal death over eternal life.

So, White Buffalo explained, on their way to the bright light that some people mistakenly call God (although nonetheless holy), those who have refused life will begin to see and feel something evil slowly enveloping them. It's so evil, in fact, that God's glory can never shine there. It is a place without the possibility of redemption. As they embraced death while alive, Death will embrace them within his robes soon after their passing. If the perfect, freezing blackness of his robes completely covers them, thus cutting off all light, they are cut off forever from Heaven's warm embrace.

White Buffalo stated that, despite this fact, it is incredible to him that Death has so many willing servants. Their names are written in the Book of Death just as names are written in the Book of Life. White Buffalo has access to both of these books. He can open their pages and find out which book your name is written in. But he only has read rights, he can't write in the books. If he could, he would gladly save every soul by writing their names in the Book of Life and erasing them from the Book of Death. The problem is, their souls are not thereby converted to the side of the good, and many black souls would go to Heaven to receive an unjustified reward without the divine deliverance of grace.

It is impossible to capture Death within a sword or other holy object designed to capture demons. But sometimes my spirit brother is caught up with enthusiasm and forgets himself.
