Who is Whachichun Tatanka?
Whachichun Tatanka, aka White Buffalo, is a member of the Arapaho tribe of Native Americans. The name Whachichun Tatanka is Native American for "White Buffalo." There's a Native American myth about the White Buffalo, and readers of this blog are free to use Google or an alternate meta-search engine such as DuckDuckGo. I don't want to waste time explaining information that is readily available elsewhere on the web. But the Whachichun Tatanka I'm referring to here is a real individual who lives in the state of Idaho, United States, North America. He's not a mythological being. Or should I say, mythology is not mythical; it is real, just as real as Whachichun Tatanka.
I'm in the process of writing a book about Whachichun - the person, the legend. I'm currently working on the final draft. I plan on publishing the book this year (2022). One of the purposes of this blog is to keep my readers posted about the novel's progress. I'm also working on a second Whachichun Tatanka book. It is currently in its infancy, with 2-1/2 chapters completed in rough draft. But I'll be sure to keep you updated about that one also.
If Whachichun is so legendary, then why isn't he famous? Because the individual I am referring to does not desire fame. It's possible that some of his doings have made local or regional news, but the cause of those doings remains obscure to the public. After all, news outlets rely on what they're told; the people who work for them don't actually go out and investigate anything. Perhaps if they actually got off their butts and do some investigating, the identity of the individual behind those doings would be made public. But don't expect me to reveal the birth name of the individual known as White Buffalo, Whachichun Tatanka, as well as several other names (some of them almost unpronounceable). His birth name is only temporary - it lasts merely for a lifetime, while Whachichun Tatanka has lived several hundred lifetimes, mostly on Earth. I'm not referring to living on other planets. Whachichun has walked through literal Hell itself, and he has spent centuries in Heaven conversing with angels.
This is not a religious blog. In his current incarnation, Whachichun's family of origin just happens to be Christian. But he also partakes in several mystical systems from which he gathers ideas and concocts spells and rituals designed to combat evil. This evil can take many forms, not merely Christian. His battles with Set and Set's sons indicate that there are many forms of supernatural entities extant. Some of them are Egyptian gods. But their point of origin is irrelevant to Whachichun. As far as he's concerned, Set is the supernatural equivalent of Loki, the Norse god of mischief. The same evil takes on different names for various cultures. And evil is evil, no matter how it's named. Whachichun will sometimes use different known names for the same being. The beings themselves don't refer to themselves with names because they have no need for them.
Another purpose for this blog is to keep you updated on Whachichun's neverending adventures. He doesn't seem to know the meaning of the word "retirement." He's already been through enough adventures to fill a thousand books, and he's currently working on filling another thousand.
